First Visit to Oregan

April 25, 2015

in about 1987 Mom and Dad were planning a trip to Oregan to see Uncle Gary and Auntie I told Mom that I would love to go to Oregon and see them too.  So I worked the tickets at the time for all of us and book all of us for around $800.00 at the time that was an great price.  So a couple of weeks before we went I told Uncle Gary we were coming as a surprise, his answer to me was that I'm glad you gave me a little notice because i had to build beds are you all would be sleeping on the floor.

When we got there Kenji and Wesley were 2 months apart in age so they played together the whole time.  I told Uncle Gary I was going to borrow his car.  He said where are you going?  I told him I was taking the kids for ice cream.  Of course he said we can go to the grocery if we don't have any.  I told him this was special we are going to Dairy Q or whatever you have here for ice cream place.  So we went Rose, Kenji, and Wesley (in order of their age)

Uncle Gary was telling us about a river that everyone swims in so the kids thought that would be a great ideal so we went.  The river was crystal clear my kids have never seen a river so clear so they jumped in and started swimming, of course i had to go into to make sure I was on had to jump in case of need.  There were out there paddling around and Kenji (sorry buddy telling on you) wouldn't go over waist deep.  Uncle Gary looked at me and said here he lives so close to the ocean and we have all these rivers to swim in and your kids from Kansas are swimming in water they can't touch bottom.  Had a great time.

A few days in to the visit we decided to go to Wal-Mart what exciting trip that was, just so everyone knows I hate to shop.  Guess what I had the pleasure of drving, what an adventiure I had.  Uncle Gary was my co-pilot  so I started freaking out Uncle there is no road, he said yes there is.  Oh no Uncle there is no road what the hell am I suppose to do it ends at the top and I can see over it (my first time driving in the mountains I'm a Kansas girl through and through flat plains).  Uncle Gary grab my arm (I was flapping my arm) and he told me, Sis just look at the front of the car do not look left or right, but I told him I need to keep my visual, he told me that he had the same problem and I was NOT to look left or right just keep my eyes on the front of the car. We got off that roller coaster ride and I almost kissed the road when I saw it.  After that I would drive in Myrtle Creek but not anywhere else.

It was a fun week and we played a lot of cards even my 6 year old daughter played too.  Uncle Gary told me that we was surprised on how well she did.  I told him look who she's sitting next to and watch their expressions.  They are identical.  My mother Rose and her granddaughter Rose play just alike.

Sorry Naomi you were older working and in love so you didn't get to be with us alot.  But we enjoyed your time with us.

Love Aunt Sue
