Jerry's Obituary

January 31, 2015

Geraldine “Jerry” Elizabeth Morgan (Sheridan), 87, of Hudson, OH passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at The Danbury of Cuyahoga Falls, where she had lived since 2012. Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Steelton, PA, she graduated from Steelton High School in 1946 and completed nurses training in 1949 at Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing.  While working at Georgetown Hospital in Washington, D.C., she met the love of her life, James Patton Morgan. They were married in California in 1954, moved east, and then devoted themselves to raising their four children. Through the years their lives carried them to Pittsburgh, Chicago, and since 1984, Hudson, OH, where Jerry worked as a nurse at Hattie Larlham until 1993. Jerry loved animals, enjoyed a good quip, and charmed everyone with her sweet and gentle nature. She was also a faithful member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 31 years and a longtime member of Life Center Plus in Hudson. Jerry was preceded in death by her husband with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Jim (Patti), Judy (David), Paul (Susan), and Eric (Colleen); grandchildren Patrick (Laura), Jacob, Christian, Zachary, Charlotte, Jake, and Abbey; and her sister Margaret (Irv) Jiras of Lawrenceville, NJ and niece and nephews Marcia, Mark and Scott.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 1:00pm at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2113 Ravenna Street in Hudson. Jerry will be interred beside her beloved husband at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg. Memorial contributions in Jerry’s honor may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Akron or the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities in Mantua.
