Mom Davis' Obituary

March 22, 2011

Geraldine (Mom) Davis was born on May 2, 1922 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to the union of Young Henry Cullors and Millie Rachel Reddick.  She was the last of six sisters and five brothers (all of whom preceded her in death). What a Heavenly reunion they all must be having!

Geraldine was raised in the church, and accepted the Lord at the family’s church in Sulphur Springs, TX.  In 1940, at the age of 18, Geraldine left Sulphur Springs for Seattle, Washington in search for bigger and better things where she eventually ended up working for a Boeing youth camp.

In 1955, Geraldine met and married Elmer Davis on November 23, 1955 (Elmer preceded her in death).

Mom Davis loved to sing and praise the Lord and traveled with a gospel singing group for many years, ministering in several places.  Over the years, Mom Davis attended Mt. Zion Baptist, Cherry Hill Baptist, Hand of God Revival Center with Pastor Robinson where she received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Rainier Temple – Pastor H.L. Wood, Beacon Hill Church – Pastor Grashong, and Seattle International Church – Pastor Ray Hampton.

She also had a tremendous love for children; she raised five children of her own (three girls and two boys) and then opened a daycare in her home. It started with 20 children and her charging only a dollar a day per child, and with the help of her own children, Geraldine  took care of those that attended the her daycare as if they were her own.  Through her love for the Lord, Geraldine provided more than a safe and nurturing daycare, she also helped the children learn about Jesus by teaching them songs and Bible verses.

Mom Davis loved life and love to spend time with her family, often teasing and laughing with them. She also loved to travel by car and train, socialize with friends and relatives, and shop for others.

She was full of life, love and joy – her love of the Lord showed throughout all she did in life, serving her church and cherishing her family and friends.

Mom Davis went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 14, 2011. She is survived by her three daughters, Gerald Williams-Turley & husband David, Elvira Davis, Rebekah Huff and husband Vincent, two sons, Felix Williams and wife Ruth, Joseph Davis, 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Geraldine Davis…Mother Davis…Mom…Mamma….Grand mama, will be greatly missed for her sweet spirit by her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and host of friends.
