Girlee Potts was born July 15, 1927, the ninth child of Arthur L. and Malinda Scott Potts. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Ebenezer Baptist Church. She later united with Pilgrim Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health declined.

Ms. Potts loved cooking and being with family. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Anrika White. Girlee Potts departed this life on Saturday, November 10,2012 in George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Valley, AL.

 Her survivors include: two sons, Marcelleus Potts, Valley, AL and Arthur (Desiree) Potts, Prattville, AL; two sisters, Hannah P. Boyd, Lanett, AL and Gussie P. Perry, Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa, JaJie, Israel, Joshua and Jarian; one great-granddaughter; two great-great-granddaughters; special nieces, Malinda (Darryl) White, Janice Burton and Zonnie Henderson all of Lanett, AL, Brenda Potts, Detroit, MI and Betty Boyd, Atlanta, GA; special cousins, Reginald Wright, Katherine Walker and Catherine Peoples; sister-in-law, Louisiana Potts, Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
