A very devout member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, she previously served as Treasurer of the Deaconess Ministry, Usher Ministry, Vocal Choir, Prayer Band, Missionary Society, Welcome Circle and was a Field Missionary for the National Baptist Convention. A home-maker, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Weatherspoon and four siblings, Willie Mae Alford, Rosa McDuffie, Elizabeth Johnson and Lucille Hunter.

Surviving are one brother, Albert Walker; one niece, Barbara McDuffie-Lowe (Bruce); two godchildren, Ronald Dobson(Tonja) and Kelly Honey; loving in-laws, Elijah Weatherspoon (Brenda) and Josie Weatherspoon; devoted caregiver, Elizaberth McRae; a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to include Lillie Tutt.
