His Life

The life of Anyemunang-zang - a Fighter

August 31, 2015

From age 2 he had to deal with a rather debilitating condition that almost crippled his right leg. He lived with this condition almost till adulthood but managed to eventually stand and walk on his two legs despite the fact that the one leg ended up being visibly shorter than the other.

In an environment where the social structures have never been equipped with a means to enable individuals with such shortcomings, Godlove never gave up in any situation without a tussle.

He was very active in the union of handicapped persons where more often than not, he was a principal spokesperson.

Many of the near fatal health problems Godlove experienced can now be traceable to the fact that he lived all his life with only one kidney. One of his kidneys stopped developing at the age of 2 and shrunk up into a little ball. When his remaining kidney started failing last December, it was a race against time.

His passing last Friday will hopefully bring to the fore the deplorable state of health care in our decades old republic of Cameroon.

Godlove attended KBTC Njinikijem, CCC Mankon and worked at Polyclinic Bonanjo in Douala for about 10 years before a near fatal automobile accident in 1982 forced him to return home to Bamenda where he lived the rest of his life until his transition last Friday August 21, 2015.
Godlove was a mellifluous tenor with the celebrated New Zion Choir of the Presbyterian Church Azire where he was baptized and worshiped for almost all of his life.

He is survived by his dear mom, Mami Sophie Nguti Nanga and an array of siblings both at home and abroad viz Rose Nguti-Che, Grace Mantohbang-Nguti, Blessing Tiyo-Nguti, Joel Nguti, Orlando Chea- Nguti, Evelyn Mungyeh-Nguti, Humphrey Nguti, Charles Nguti, Mercy Nguti, Reuben Nguti, Emerience Nguti, Gladys Nguti and a host of others this narrator may not have had the privilege of meeting.

He will be sorely missed.
