Gordon A. French, 76, of Port Charlotte, Florida., passed away Friday, Aug. 28. 2015, at Bayfront Health Hospital.
He was born in Malone, N.Y., the son of Vernon A. and Margaret (nee Joy) French.
Gordon worked on heavy equipment up in New York and on building 75 in Charlotte County. He also worked with Wayne Arnold Residential and Commercial Painting for 26 years. Gordon was a proud life member of Deep Creek Elks 2763 and had been a member of BPOE for 54 years. He was a member of Port Charlotte Moose for 29 years and the American Legion S.A.L. for 27 years. Gordon was a devoted companion and was always cooking up delicious meals from steak and lobster bakes, to his famous wings. He will be missed by his family, as he was the only dad and grandfather that was there for them. Gordon also enjoyed fishing, jetskiing, camping in fifth wheel and working in Atlantic City casinos.
He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Karen Scalisi; stepdaughter, Staci (Louis) Case; stepson, Christopher Scalisi; grandsons, Matthew Case, Kennith Smith, Dominic Scalisi; granddaughter, Brittani Case, Tiffani Case and greatgranddaughters, Kennedi Rae and Mckinnli Larane. Gordon was preceded in death by his mother,in 1986 and father, in 2003.
A celebration of life was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at the Deep Creek Elks, 1133 Capricorn Boulevard, Punta Gorda, Florida 33983
