Dedication to My Son: A Place in My Heart

December 10, 2016

I tried to help You to succeed Gave you your warmth And supplied all your needs

Each day I pray That you're OK In every way Being all you can be Cause there's so much To learn And there's so little time Before your life slips away Yeah, But there's one place you can be safe

Yes, you have a place in my heart No matter where you go It's never too far Yes, you have a place in my heart Even if you go astray All you have to do is come back home You know, you have a place in my heart

Now that you're grown And on your own Don't feel like you Are there all alone No matter what You're going through A mother's love Will always comfort you

Cause there's so much To learn And there's so little time Before your life slips away Yeah, But there's one place you can be safe

Yes, you have a place in my heart No matter where you go It's never too far Yes, you have a place in my heart Even if you go astray All you have to do is come back home You have a place in my heart You have a place in my heart

No matter where you go Yes you have a place in my heart No matter where you go It's never too far Yes, you have a place in my heart Even if you go astray All you have to do is come back home

You have your own place Right here If you've done wrong, that's alright You're never alone. Come on home Yes, you have a place in my heart No matter where you go It's never too far Yes, you have a place in my heart

Growing Up

May 16, 2013

We purchased our first house on Linda Ann in January 1985, the same year of your birth. I decorated your room with clowns.  I mean clowns everywhere - on the wall, stuffed animals, on your book shelves, your comforter and etc.  As you grew older, I would say around three, there were these two clowns that sat on your bookcase on the shelf.  Every now and again, I would wind them up and their heads would turn with a musical tune.  At first you were fascinated and would laugh and dance around imitating their movement.  As you got older, I guess you thought about them while you were sleeping one night.  You yelled, "Mama!  Mama!  Take those clowns out of my room.  They are scaring me!"  Of course, instead of taking them out that night, you slept between your Dad and I.  Well the next day, we started packing the clowns in a container.  Boy - you threw those clowns in that container so fast it made me chuckle (LOL).  That's when we changed your room decor to dinosaurs.  Everything was dinosaurs.

His Birth

May 16, 2013

Before you were born, I remember when you moved for the first time.  You constantly kept your little feet tucked under my right side.  I would rub and sing to you and you would relax as if you understood what I was saying.  I would always sing, "Hush little baby, don't say a word, mama gonna buy you a mockng bird...."  Finally the day came, July 4, 1985, at 7:00 a.m. you came into this world with a "BANG"!

I can remember when I arrived at the hospital, I was assigned to a room with a woman who was in labor, dilated to 10cm I would assume, because she was wailing, "Ohhhh, ohhh!"  My mom, your grandmother, and I looked in dismay and found her wailing to be annoying - at least I did --until you made your statement that you were ready to come to this world.  Then I started wailing louder than her (LOL).  Your grandmother tried to soothe me but nothing made me comfortable.  The nurse would come in from time to time to check me and would tell us that you weren't ready.  She directed me to stop pushing, but boy you were ready to enter this world!  I screamed as I pushed simultaneously, "I can't!"  My mom raised the sheets and saw your head peaking and yelled to the nurse that I was in delivery.  The nurse stated, "She can't be - she's only 2cm!"  My mom said, "I know she is ready because I can see the crown of her baby's head!"  They swiftly rolled me into the delivery room and of course, your daddy was "playing doctor"!  All in the kool-aid if you know what I mean.  Boy you shot out like a rocket!  I guess you knew it was the Fourth of July and you were our fireworks show!  They placed you in my arms and you looked up at me with a smile.  You were such a happy baby!  Finally they rolled me back to my room and brought you to me for your first feeding.  (No I didn't breast feed - with WHAT????LOL).  I held you and you fit perfectly in my arms and you slept so peacefully.  You didn't cry not once - well you didn't do much of that at all unless you were ill.
You loved your NUK.  I must have purchased about 20 of them.  When we traveled, people always thought we were moving because I carried everything - I mean everything.  At night while in your crib, if your nuk would slip out of your mouth, you would whimper and search for it with your eyes closed until you found it.  You quietly placed it back in your mouth and went back to sleep.  I would give my HEART if only I could have that moment once again!  Wathcing you grow was such a joy!

Now you are in the arms of our Lord.  Sleep my child because I know you are really at PEACE!

                                                   WE WILL MEET AGAIN!
