Her Life

Harriet Elizabeth Hanby Topping, 92, of Holiday Park & Recreation District of North Port, FL, entered into eternal life on June 18, 2015.  She was born May 23, 1923 in Troy, NY, and came to this area in 1988 from Wynantskill, NY.

Harriet was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and friend, and will be forever missed by all who lover her and knew her.

Mrs. Topping was an Executive Secretary to the Dean of Graduate Students and to the Head of the Business Department at Siena College and later an Office Manager at Walter G. Hiney Wise Potato Chip Distributor in Wynantskill, NY.  She was a member of the Rensselaer County Mounted Patrol during World War II, Brownie and Girl Scout leader for 4 years, Order Of The Eastern Star, Frear Park Golf Club, Woman's Intercounty Golf League, Club Champion at Burden Lake CC for 12 years, responsible for developing guardianship documents for physically and mentally handicapped in NYS along with Representative Gerald B. H. Solomon, advanced bridge player at Holiday Park, knitted and donated many fine yarn cap for infants of Midwest Indian Tribes and Neonatal Newborns in New York Hospitals, avid reader, and enjoyed crafts, and was a member of Pawling Avenue Methodist Church for many years.

Survivors include her sons: H. James (Bonnie) Topping of Watertown, NY; Peter E. Topping of North Port, FL; and her daughters:  Jonnie A. Davis of North Port, FL; Kathy T. Tazbir (Joseph Z.) of Arcadia, FL.  Also surviving are 13 grandchildren:  Scot J. Topping, Shannon L. Soules (Scott W., Sr.); Shane H. Smyth, Jason D. Fitzpatrick (Gloria H.), Devin C. Tazbir, Josiah J. Tazbir, Seth J. Tazbir, Zachary H. P. Tazbir, Kiden D. Tazbir, Kendra Tazbir, Kalynn Tazbir; Jeramie S. Davis (Heather), Jamie M. Davis.  Survivors also include 14 great grandchildren:  Sara L. Soules, Scott W. Soules, Jr.; Justin D. Smyth, Nichole A. Smyth, Isabella R. Smyth, Mateo W. Smyth; Deanna Fitzpatrick, Nicholas Fitzpatrick, Liam Fitzpatrick, Jason Fitzpatrick, Eli Fitzpatrick; Arianna J. Davis, Lyla R. Davis, Juliana G. Davis.  She is survived by one great, great grandchild, Kaiden Jones.  Harriet is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Topping was preceded in death by 5 siblings; her parents; and husband, Howard J., married for 49 years; and daughter, Pamela L.
