Harry C. Spies

Harry C. Spies was the Chairman of the Board and majority owner of Power Ten, Inc., a professional, technical, engineering, and information technologies services company serving government and industry customers.  Prior to Power Ten, Inc., he was the President and CEO of Shee Atika Technologies.  He previously was Chief Operating Officer for the Pacific Council on International Policy, in Los Angeles, California, and Vice President and Director for the Joint Operations Department, JAYCOR Defense Systems Division, Titan Corporation, in San Diego, California.  Commissioned in 1974 upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy, he served as a Naval Flight Officer in all three active component Marine Aircraft Wings with Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 121, "Green Knights," and Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 242, "Bats."  Subsequently, he served as a Forward Air Controller with Second Battalion, 7th Marines infantry regiment, 1st Marine Division, in Camp Pendleton, California, and later was the aide-de-camp to the Commanding General of the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.  Following completion of the United States Naval Test Pilot School in 1983, he was assigned as the Chief Operational Test Director for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Five, in China Lake, California, and then reported to the Pentagon as the Deputy Director and Senior Air Operations Analyst in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfare Requirements.  Returning to the operating forces, he initially was a member of the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing staff and then deployed to Operation Desert Storm as the Future Combat Operations Officer for the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.  Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, he led Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 224, "Bengals," as the Commanding Officer from 1991 to 1993, at Cherry Point, North Carolina, with the unit deploying throughout East Asia in 1992.  Selected as a Commandant of the Marine Corps Fellow, he earned a Master's degree in International Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins University, Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in 1994.  Returning to the Pentagon, he served on the staff of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, in both the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy (USD(P)) and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and Threat Reduction offices.  Promoted to Colonel, he led Marine Air Control Group 38, with 2500 Marines stationed at four bases in California and Arizona, as the Commanding Officer from 1998 to 2000.  Following duty as the 3d Marine Aircraft Wing G-3 Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, his last assignment in uniform, with twenty-seven years of commissioned service, was as the Assistant Wing Commander.
