Visiting Aunt Helen in FL

January 20, 2013

We three daughters (Barb, Jan & Pat) of  Mike & Leone Mindish had the great fortune to visit our dear Aunt Helen in FL shortly before she moved back to NJ.. It was such a good time since Jason, my son, along with John Vita, Pat's hubby and Jennifer, Pat's daughter, could be there to enjoy our last time together with Aunt Helen.   We went to an oriental restaurant that Aunt Helen preferred and had a wonderful lunch. The trip is documented with a few pictures I placed in the memory book

Aunt Helen was a dear, sweet and kind soul. My mother and Aunt Helen were fast friends  as well as sister-in-laws and would chat on the phone regularly until Mom passed in 2006.
  .
I am sure , if Dad/Uncle Mike has anything to do with it, the entire Mindish Clan and huge extended family are haveing a great picnic in heaven!  Save me a hot-dog.....

Bear Claws

January 20, 2013

My mother, Rose Marie Kilmon, and I on many occasions would go up and visit Aunt Helen and Uncle Jack and take her out for lunch to her favorite Chinese restaurant to give her a break and share the "gossip". Uncle Jack would be on his stationary bike getting some exercise, he had AAA do a trip tic for him so he could ride his bike to Florida. He kept track of the mileage and always informed Mom and I how far he had ridden. Aunt Helen, Mom and I took off for lunch and had a great outing, Jack informed us how far he had ridden since we had left. Several days later Helen called us in Estell Manor telling us that there had been an article in thr paper giving details how the Health Department had found Bear Claws in the walk-in freezer at the Chinese restaurant. After that we were forced to find a different place for our get-a-ways. She was fond uf telling this story after she moved to Florida. When ever I was in town Mom and I would pick her up in Ocala and take her to a Chinese restaurant that she had throughly investigated. I will miss her quiet voice telling me the latest news  and rememberences that she was so fond of recalling.  Jean

God's Garden

January 11, 2013

God looked around His garden, and found an empty place.

He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you and lifted you up to rest.

God's Garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.

He knew that you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb.

So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace Be Thine".

It broke ouor hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone.

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
