Henry James Mitchell, affectionately known as “Bim” second child born of eleven children on August 21, 1933 to Jim Mitchell and Jennie Lou Reese Mitchell; which all preceded him in death.

Henry was educated at Friendship School in Woodland, Georgia.  He joined Concord Baptist Church in 1950 under the leadership of the late Rev. R. L. Walker.  He had served on the Deacon Board since 1962.

Henry worked for Callaway – Miliken Mills in Manchester, Georgia for 30 years, and Columbus Bank and Trust for 17 years, Manchester, Georgia; which he retired from both.  He had a genuine love for his family and people.  Henry never met a stranger.  He also had a great passion for farming, fishing, gardening and baseball.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.


Henry leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Margaret Rene Mitchell of 43 years; five (5) sons, Algernon (Jeaneane) Mitchell of Decatur, GA, Chauncey (Charlotte) Ferguson of Columbus, GA, Rodney Hamler of Columbus, GA, Romeo (Edith) Hamler of Houston, TX, Clinton (LaToya) Mitchell of Manchester, GA; one (1) daughter, Denise Mitchell-Watson of Shiloh, GA; five (5) grandchildren, two (2) great grandchildren; seven (7) sister-in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
