Dearest family and friends,

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Herbert Sayne. We will remember him forever.

Herbert "Herb" Wallace Sayne, age 68, died September 19, 2014 at his home in Noti, Oregon, surrounded by family.

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, to Willis and Hildegard Sayne, Herb graduated from Great Valley high school in Malvern, PA, and then joined the U.S. Army Ordinance Center, receiving certification in Automotive Repair.  Thoughout his nearly 40 year career as a heavy duty mechanic, Herb received numerous certifications and commendations.  Herb's most recent acheivement was receiving his Amateur Radio License KG7CVH in 2013.

Herb enjoyed spending time at home with his beloved wife of 17 years, Beth Sayne, and their six dogs.  Herb had many hobbies, including reading, RV'ing, garden railroading, diesel engines, photography, videography, emergency preparedness, and running his Labradors daily in the backyard forest.

Herb is survived by his wife, Beth, and five children: Lance (Melanie) Sayne, Steven (Patricia) Sayne, Willis (Susan) Sayne, Melissa Crow and Daniel Sigui.  He also leaves behind nine grandchildren:  Julia Sayne, Nathan Sayne, Elizabeth Whiteside, Steven Sayne, Jr., Nicholas Sayne, Ethan Sayne, Victoria Sayne, Trinity Sayne, and Alexa Crow. One great grandchild:  Willow Whiteside.

Herb was proud, direct, and loving.  His home was always open to those in need.  Per Herb's final wishes, a red apple tree has been planted in his honor and the family held a private memorial service at his home in the Oregon forest.

It has been a little more than a month. It is not any easier. I feel you with me so often, it gives me the strength to continue to make the most of every day and finish the projects we were both working on. My love for you has only grown and there will never be another who could ever fill my heart with love like you still do.

We thought we had more time, wished we had more time. Herb you were a 1 in a million person. Our family is proud to be able to say we were friends. From the first time we meet we knew you and Beth were the type of people we wanted to be around. Honest, sincere, truthful down to earth people. Full of jokes and fun. Never a boring time around you. Great story teller thats for sure. We're both grateful and thankful for the time we shared together. You were an exceptional husband and a great father/grandfather. A mentor to many. You will be missed and that's for sure. Don't worry Mike will keep his promise to you and so will I. Love and miss you already. Next time we meet you'll be showing us around, instead of us showing you. That will be wonderful. Rest in Peace our dear friend. Until we meet again.

Love always for you and yours.

Dearest Husband,
I'm missing you... doesn't begin to convey the absence of you from my life everyday. Keep watching over us as we learn to live without your generous spirit. Until we meet again, all my love, Beth

a poem that reminds me of Herb

Come to the Forest to Visit Me

Come to the forest to visit me
Down by the roots of a tree
Waste not your tears on cold, stone graves
Water a flower for me

Give me to the earth when my winter comes
Bury me deep in the ground
Mark not my place with statues or caves
Find me where life can be found

Come to the woods when autumn leaves turn
Golden and copper and red
Rustle up memories, seeds of joy stored
Kick up the leaves in my stead

Visit a garden on warm, summer days
Keep company with blossoms and bees
Remember my heart blooms forever in yours
Take comfort from shushing shade trees

Let springtime surround you with life and the living
Birdsong and budding green leaves
Look up at the sky, give thatnks for sun and rain
When you think of me, please smile more than grieve

Come to the forest to visit me
Down by the roots of a tree
Waste not your tears on thoughts of death
Water a new flower for me
