Herman (Hy) Gelman was a wonderful man with an easy smile and a patient nature.  He loved so many things - travel, babies, golf, animals, and most of all, his family.  He is survived by his wife Dale, his children Michael, Jay, and Jana, and his grandchildren Asher, Sarah, Rachel, Cora, and Remy.  We will miss him greatly.

A memorial service for Herman will be held on Wednesday, November 5 at 10:30 AM at Temple Solel in Bowie, MD followed by a burial service at Annapolis Cemetery in Parole, MD.  After the burial service, the surviving family will be receiving visitors at Herman's home at 1718 Tipton Drive, Crofton, MD.

Shiva services will be held on Wednesday at 7:45 PM, Thursday at 7:30 PM, and Saturday at 7:30 PM at 1718 Tipton Drive, Crofton, MD.

Remembering Dad on Father's Day, which was often on his birthday. Made it easy as a kid getting presents. Miss you Dad.

Dale - I am very sorry about your loss. We will miss Hy so much.
He was greatly loved and admired by all of us. I always loved the way he was so polite and cheerful. You have always been a wonderful wife and a friend to him. I would like to help you in whatever way I can through this difficult time.

You are in my thoughts, Dale.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Hy's family. Although we live in Florida, we always felt close to Hy and his family because of so many shared holidays and experiences as our children grew up together. He was a kind, patient, intelligent and fun-loving man who amazed us with his constant activities and travels. We will miss him.

Among all the other wonderful things about Hy, I can personally attest that he knew how to give some of the best hugs ever. Some of my fondest memories of him are of the bear hugs we would exchange. He and his magnificent hugs will most definitely be missed.

My sympathies to Dale & the family. As a member of the Davidsonville Dance Club, I will always remember Hy. His presence has been missed. Always a smile & cheerful. I loved dancing with him over the years.
