Hope's Life

Hope Angel Fonseca, 74, of Colorado Springs passed away on July 10, 2012.

Hope was born on February 15, 1938 in Topenish, Washington to Richard Brotzman and Bernice Estrada. Survived by her mother Bernice. Hope and her husband Agustin V. Fonseca started their 32 year army career together and traveled to Germany, Colorado Springs, and various other military posts. Buying their home in Colorado Springs in 1963 and permanently  settling here in Colorado Springs in 1975.

Hope was most noted for her active public life on the west side of Colorado Springs. She was involved in the Westside Story, which was a local newspaper.  Later she became the owner of her own paper and named it the Westsider. Hope was also the president of OWN "Our Westside Neighbors". This was and is a local organization started in 1978 for the restoration, rehabilitation of Colorado Springs west side community, to inform west side residents of their rights and of the impact of governmental and commercial actions on their lives. Hope was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Hope enjoyed working and beautifying her yard, always making her flowers the best they could be. Neighbors always said "she has the most beautiful yard around". She loved her family West Highland Terriers, Princess and Precious.

Hope was married for 56 years to Agustin V. Fonseca. They were married  on May 1, 1956 in Tacoma Washington where they met at Fort Lewis. They had 3 children, Melody, Timmy, and David.

She had 6 siblings, Alberta, Dixie, Linda, Richard, Vicky, and Wendy.

She had 10 Grandchildren, Brandy, Candace, Tremaine, Adam, David, Justin, Christian, Katelynn, Aubry, and Preston.

She had 10 great grandchildren.

"Mom, was the most devoted and caring mother that we could have hoped for and always put her children before herself and sacrificing everything for us. We love you mom and will see you in heaven."
