Hubert was born January 19, 1927 in Crofton to Max M. and Mary Marie (Deppe) Brunsing. He attended District 108 Country School for four years, then Crofton Catholic School through eighth grade. At age 15, Hubert was employed by a farmer near Crofton for a year and a half, then went to work for a farmer in the West Point area. Hubert was drafted into the United States Army in September 1946, seeing service in Japan, and was discharged at the end of the war in June 1947. On November 20, 1947, Hubert married Josephine Guenther at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point.

Hubert farmed north of Dodge and was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, VFW, and Holy Name Society of Aloys. He enjoyed providing upkeep of Aloys and the grounds, was instrumental in the creation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Shrine, and he faithfully prayed the Living Rosary. Hubert’s favorite pastimes included motorcycle riding, boating, swimming, skiing, hunting, playing cards, the casino, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
