|Let the memory of Hubert be with us forever|
Hubert was born January 19, 1927 in Crofton to Max M. and Mary Marie (Deppe) Brunsing. He attended District 108 Country School for four years, then Crofton Catholic School through eighth grade. At age 15, Hubert was employed by a farmer near Crofton for a year and a half, then went to work for a farmer in the West Point area. Hubert was drafted into the United States Army in September 1946, seeing service in Japan, and was discharged at the end of the war in June 1947. On November 20, 1947, Hubert married Josephine Guenther at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point.
Hubert farmed north of Dodge and was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, VFW, and Holy Name Society of Aloys. He enjoyed providing upkeep of Aloys and the grounds, was instrumental in the creation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Shrine, and he faithfully prayed the Living Rosary. Hubert’s favorite pastimes included motorcycle riding, boating, swimming, skiing, hunting, playing cards, the casino, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children Dan (Dorothy) of West Point, Jerry of West Point, Karen (Tom) McMahon of West Point, Mark of Dodge, and Mike (Rebecca) of Wagner, SD; brothers Henry and Alphonse of Crofton; brother-in-law Albert (Irene) Guenther of West Point; sister-in-law Rose Hassler of Fremont; grandchildren Deanne (Kyle) Schlautman of Omaha, Debbie (Mike) Bailey of West Point, Don (Alisa) Brunsing of West Point, David (Rose) Brunsing of Norfolk, Danelle (Jason) Smith of West Point, Danessa (Jared) Kenney of Kearney, Greg (Aliza) Brunsing of Lincoln, Scott Brunsing of Lincoln, Mollie Brunsing of Omaha, Kristi (Ryan) Logemann of Omaha, Stacey (Phil) Haussler of Omaha, and Dylan, Abigail, and Emily Brunsing of Wagner, SD; and 20 great-grandchildren.
