Her Life

Mrs. Ida Holmes was born on March 7, 1954 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Ruth and Thomas Burgess.

At  an early age, she confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and later joined and united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Union Springs, AL. She was a devoted and loyal member of this church and choir.

She entered into rest on Tuesday, October 9,2012, and leaves to cherish her memories, a loving and devoted husband, Tommie  L. Holmes, Union Springs, AL; six children, two daughters, Latoya (Sgt. Calvin) Hawkins, Killeen, TX and Terrance Burgess, Robert (Trisha) Burgess, Travis Burgess and Tommie  Holmes, all of Union Springs, AL; one brother, Charlie (Wanda) Bur- gess, New Brunswick, NJ; one sister to precede her in death, Shirley Roberson, Brunswick, GA; ten grandchildren, Shontavious Burgess, a de- voted and special granddaughter, Robert Burgess, Jr., Martavious Burgess, Rodrick Burgess, Tameka Burgess, Jarvis Burgess, Javaris Burgess, Zykeria Hawkins, ZaNiyah Hawkins and Cal- vin Hawkins, Jr.; one great-grandson, Ja’Darrion Davis; her devoted and long time friends, Tommie  O’Neal,  Frostie Williams,  Martha  Jones, Diane Caldwell, Clemmie McBryde and Bertha Alexander; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
