Imogene Elizabeth Pieper was born May 5, 1928 on the family farm in Colfax County to Joseph and Mary (Gross-Rhode) Pieper, and she grew up there. She attended Sacred Heart Academy at Olean, graduated from Dodge High School in 1946, and worked in an office in Fremont. On September 12, 1950, Imogene married Henry Schlickbernd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean. The couple lived in Beemer, moved south of Scribner, returned to farm the home place east of Beemer, until moving to West Point in 1984. Imogene worked at Delmont Café and Colonial Haven in Beemer, then in dietary at St. Joseph’s Retirement Home and St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Imogene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers, and former member of VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed crosswords, watching Lawrence Welk and Wheel of Fortune, playing cards, and dancing. Survivors include her husband Henry of West Point; sons Mark (Cheryl) and Paul (Debra), both of West Point; daughters Mary Ellen (Bill) Partusch of Omaha, Laura (Harvey) Holtz of Beemer, Irene Lierman of West Point, and Joan Schlickbernd of Oakland; brother Art (Janice) Pieper of Layfayette, IN; sister Imelda Pieper of Dodge; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Alvin, Van, Gene, Meinard, Allen, and Jermain Pieper.
