Mrs. lnez Heard Burns was born December 11,1923 in Jacksons Gap, Alabama. She was the eldest of three children born to the late Mr, Charles Heard and Mrs. Sennie Crayton Heard.

Mn. Burns was a graduate of Opelika High School Class of 1943' She also
attended the Alabama State Teachers College (presently known as Alabama State University) 1943-1945 where she received an Emergency Teacher's Certificate. Her teaching career includes the following schools. Lee County, Council High School, and New Site School System. After rearing her three children, she retumed to the teaching profession as a teacher with Childcare Development for ten years.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. John Clark (Jake) Burns on
October 20,1945. To this union three children (one son and two daughters) were born.

Mrs. lnez Heard Bums professed faith and became an active member of the
Jones Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. Upon joining Jones Chapel, she received Christian guidance under the tutelage of her mother. She held numerous positions there namely and often solely: Chairperson of P.P.R., Secretary, Treasurer, Chairperson of the Methodist Women's Auxiliary, Chairpenson of the Finance Committee, Delegate of the United Methodist Annual Conference, Sunday School Teacher. During Jones Chapel's darkest hours she was able to exhibit the strength and determination needed to seek and receive aid from Pastor D, l. Kirk and United Methodist Officials. The successful outcome being the dismantling of the old and the building of a new church on that site.

She was also a member in excellent standing of the Adams Chapter, Prince Hall Affiliate, Order of Eastern Star #685 for 55 yearrs. She served as an Honorable Worthy Matron many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sennie C. Heard. Her husband, John Clark (J.C.) Burns. One sister, Gladys Whitlow; brother, Billy D' (Red) Heard, Sr.; sister-in-law, Daisy F. Heard, nephew, Robert L. Heard; niece, Roberta Heard. Mrs. Burns transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at her residence.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Three children: son, James E. (Jacquelyn)
Burns of Jacksons Gap, AL. Two daughters: Sennie B. Smith of Millbrook, AL and Elsie Ann B. Sanders (Johnny) of Montgomery, AL. One aunt, Mary Heard of Jacksons Gap, AL. One sister-in-law, Sarah Burns of Alexander City, AL. Four grandchildren: Sharon (Devon) Davis, Mobile, AL, Selena (Corey) Williams of Macon , GA, Robert Louis Smith, Johnny Sanders lll, Montgomery, AL, Seven greatgrandchildren: Jori, Khai, Khori, Quin, Javone, Shaun, La'Bryan, Great, great-granddaughter, Alayah' Seven nieces, four nephews, a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Burns was the epitome of integrity and virtue, a lady of the first order and
stalwart United Methodist who would relinquish her faith and her church only of God.
