We have fond memories of Irene. She never failed to send us Christmas cards and other remembrances. She was a good testimony for her faith and now she is with her Lord. "Absent from the body, present with the Lord," 2 Corinthians 5:8. Love and sympathy to the family.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I understand that in times like these it can be hard to find comfort. There is one place that has always helped me with a kind word. In the Bible Jesus promises that in a little while longer there will be a resurrection. Those words has always encouraged me and I hope it encourages you.

In July 2003, I was riding through the Southwest on motorcycles with two friends. Leaving the Grand Canyon, I called Irene on a whim and asked if she'd like 3 smelly, leather-clad bikers to pay her a visit. Without hesitation, she replied, "I'll be ready by dinner!" And she was there in a cute hat when we thundered into town!
After assigning us rooms and letting us clean up, she drove us to a nice diner where she had us all laughing. After dinner, she drove us around and showed us the sights -- what a tour guide, and what a wonderful visit that was.
I've included a photo from that visit.
In January 2004, traveling across the US en route to Tampa, Florida, for a new job, my dad and I stopped in for a visit with Irene and MaryAnn. We stayed up way too late talking and catching up and laughing.
