Miss Isabel Courtney Brummitt, age 88, of Raleigh, retired employee of Wachovia Bank and Trust Company with 32 years of service, died April 27, 2011 in Raleigh.

Isabel was born January 30, 1923 in Granville County to Nathaniel Clay Brummitt and Belle Harris Brummitt.  She was an active member of Corinth Baptist Church in Granville County since an early age.

Isabel spent her years since retirement in 1985 between her residence in Raleigh and the family farm in the Gray Rock community of Granville County where she grew up.  As long as her health permitted, she was active as a volunteer in her beloved Gray Rock community.

A service to celebrate the life and resurrection of Isabel C. Brummitt will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Corinth Baptist Church, Hwy 96 South, Oxford.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10:00 – 10:45 AM in the fellowship hall at Corinth Baptist Church and after the service.

Miss Brummitt is survived by her brother Dennis Brummitt and wife Jane, Raleigh, NC; sisters Pat B. Cokewell, North Bend, WA; Ann B. Averitt, Mableton, GA; brother-in-law John E. (Jack) Tefft, Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law Frances Brummitt, Youngsville, NC; 10 nieces and nephews: John E. Tefft, III, Columbia, MD; Carolyn T. Lodzieski (Ron) Williamsburg, VA; Gordon B. Tefft (Beth), Raleigh, NC; Frank A. Lane, Jr. (Kathy), Fuquay-Varina, NC; R. David Lane (Cathey), Raleigh, NC; Benjamin C. Lane (Jennifer), Libertyville, IL; Nancy K. Lane, Clarendon Hills, IL; Ruth B. Graham (Joe), Wake Forest, NC; Jeannie Bowers (Jim), North Bend, WA; Carolyn Rodenhuis (Will), Sweet Home, OR; 32 great nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, Miss Brummitt was preceded in death by her brother, Nathaniel T. Brummitt, and two sisters, Evelyn B. Tefft and Mary Frances Brummitt, a niece Anne dela Vergne, sister-in-law Dorothy Jones Brummitt; and two brothers-in-law, Robert T. Cokewell and Ransom S. Averitt.
