|Let the memory of James " Brother Mc Kie" be with us forever|
This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, James " Brother Mc Kie" Mc Kie, 97, born on June 30, 1918 and passed away on November 22, 2015. We will remember him forever.
"I grew up in brother Mckie 's house. He was my surrogate father. His home, is the only home my mother would allow us to go to . Every Sunday, myself and my sister Morella would arrive at his home around 9:00 am. If we did not eat we would have breakfast. Then around 10:00 am. The group would walk from his home to the Gospel Hall Church in Ashton. The group was Brother Mackie and Ms Nenita, Florence, Pricella, Nieomi, Isaac oh, Valeska and Morella. And sometimes we were joined by Jennifer and Dexter Frouget and we would walk fom his house via Belmont route to church. We would come back for lunch and go back for night church. On Sunday night, we will walk to Clifton Via the Main Road laughing and talking and having fun,as one big family. To the Mackie Family, my deepest sympathy. Death is inevitable, but you were blessed to have such a wonderful person in your life for such a long time, that has impacteimpacted you so greatly, that I am sure you will never forget him. He has touched many lives, including mine. He played a part in whom I have become. And I would never forget the good times I have had with him and your family in Union Island before it became developed. Thank you and God Bless you all."
"My deepest condolences to the McKie family on the passing of their beloved patriarch:
" For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink form the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." - Kahlil Gibran
May you find comfort in this time of sorrow and may his soul Rest in Peace!
You have been A ROCK in the good and bad times, providing GREAT SUPPORT as HUSBAND and FATHER to my cousins!! Your positive demeanour and encouragement have been a source of strength for many of us!!
REST PEACEFULLY, GALLANT SOLDIER!!
YOUR MARKS WILL NEVER BE ERASED!!
FOREVER REMEMBERED by NKEA, Byron, Casron, Dexron, Kevron,
Lauron and TEDLY(Byron)"
"Brother McKie has served at the Post Office in Union Island for generations – who does not remember him rowing out to the mail boat to collect the mails for distribution or riding this big bike delivering to the households. But he may be best remembered for the role he has played in the spiritual lives of the congregation at the Gospel Hall Church in Ashton.
All newcomers to Toronto (those who ever mentioned this to him) were extended an invitation to take a tour of the city with him - at his cost and at their convenience.
He will always be remembered as an outstanding citizen of Union Island.
The Union Island Cultural Association of Toronto (UICA) and its members take much pleasure in wishing the McKie family God’s blessings as they celebrate the departure of their beloved and our friend. Our prayers are with each of you.
No one can truly understand the sorrows you all bare at this time, but may it help some how to know we care. May you all find solace in the Christian song. " what a friend we have in Jesus".
Our deepest sympathy
Volton Hutchinson and family."
"Through many dangers toils and snares ,you have already come
It's grace,God's marvelous grace that brought you through, and it's His
grace that led you home,as you make your entrance through that city
of jasper walls and bright golden avenue,as you behold all it's beauty and splendor, and after meeting your blessed Lord, and the other loved ones, like Mom,Bros.Velox and Lennox..then look for me ..I will be there
too.You were truly,of little stature, but you were a great giant,in the things of the Master."
"Having lived for such an amazingly long time, we should be contented that Dad has taken another course in his eternal journey. To my dear sisters, brothers, and the rest of the family, let us not be saddened by this temporary rest along the way, but instead let us all focus on what a joy to have had someone who did so much to teach us how to be better citizens of a much conflicted world. Peace and love from the Hypolite family."
