Mr. Polk was born Tuesday, January 20, 1920, in Troup County, the son of the late Charity McRae and Edward Franklin Polk. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Central Pacific during World War II. He was the former owner of Polk Sheet Metal Works.
 

Survivors include his daughter, Georgia Todd of Columbus; his son A. J. Polk and his wife Deborah of LaGrange; and his granddaughter, Taylor Smith of LaGrange. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rebecca Ann Polk. Mr. Polk was preceded in death by his wives, Mildred Newberry Polk and Etrulia Todd Polk.
