James Edward ”Shorty” Jackson, 67, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 30, 2019 at his home.
He was born December 3, 1951 to the late Mark J. Jackson and Eula Woodlief Jackson. He was of the Baptist faith and retired as a welder. He worked at Lee Dye Company in Butner and No Nonsense Fashions in Creedmoor.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, July 5, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Tim Atkinson and Rev. Keith Williams.
Surviving are his wife of forty-six years, Debra Jackson of the home; a daughter, Tonya Tant of Oxford; a granddaughter, Ashley Tant and grandson, Stephen Tant (Brittany), great-granddaughter, Autumn Tant and great-grandson, Dylan Tant; six sisters, Eunice Keith of Oxford, Sylvia Roberson (Phillip), of Kittrell, Linda Gooch (Stanley) of Bullock, Peggy Bracy (Ronald) of Oxford, Brenda Puckett of Oxford, Merle Strickland (Vernon) of Stem and a brother, Donald Jackson of Oxford. He was preceded in death by brothers, J.R. Jackson, Grady Jackson, McCray Jackson and a sister, Diane O’Briant.
