James F. Bullock, Jr. “Jimmy”, age 83, of Creedmoor died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 after an extended illness.

Jimmy was born November 20, 1934 in Oxford to Helen and James F. Bullock. He grew up in Florence, SC on the Pee Dee Experiment Station farm. He graduated from Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy. While at Clemson, Jimmy was a cadet and played in the university band. In 1956, he married Jacqueline Lee Currin of Creedmoor. Jimmy retired from the Research Department of Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company in Durham after 35 years of service.

Jimmy was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Creedmoor and previously served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, watching Clemson ballgames, and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jacky; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherrill and Frank DeVita of Simpsonville, SC, Cindy and Doug Johnson of Fremont, and Laura and Clay Holloway of Creedmoor; seven grandchildren, Michelle DeVita Pietkiewicz and husband Will, Matthew DeVita and wife Ansley, Douglas Johnson, Michael Johnson, Katie Lee Johnson, Lauren Holloway and Emily Holloway; two great-grandsons, James Pietkiewicz and Benson DeVita; and a sister, Sarah Jo Faris of Albuquerque, NM.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Sharon Lynn.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 2:45 pm Saturday, April 21 in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, Creedmoor. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3pm officiated by Rev. Jim Shelley and Rev. Doug Johnson. Burial will be in Creedmoor Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Family Life Center Building Debt Fund, P.O. Box 38, Creedmoor, NC 27522.
