Mr. James M. “Jenks” Jenkins, Jr., 87 year old resident of Lanett, Alabama, died Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. Mr. Jenkins was born Sunday, September 28, 1924, in LaGrange, Georgia, the son of the late Ruby Lester and James M. Jenkins, Sr.

He served in the U. S. Army during World War II reaching the rank of sergeant. Mr. Jenkins retired as Vice-President of Kleen-Tex in LaGrange, having worked in textiles his entire career. He was an active member of his church. Mr. Jenkins served as Elder at Park Avenue Church of Christ, LaGrange, before moving to Lanett.

Surviving Mr. Jenkins is his wife of 65 years, Sarah Siggers Jenkins of Lanett; his daughter: Pam (Ron) Estherly of Brentwood, Tennessee; his sons: James Terry (Freida) Jenkins of Auburn and Steve (Peggy) Jenkins of Lanett; his grandchildren: Amy Robinson, Chris Jenkins, Kim Cook, Maggie Jenkins, Alan Estherly and Sara Estherly; and his sister: Mary White of Marietta. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
