James S. “Jim” Pontious, 47, of Effingham, formerly of Watson, entered into Eternal Life on Sunday morning, Sept. 15, 2013, in Effingham.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, rural Effingham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be left at www.hallfuneralchapel.com.Jim was born on Feb. 21, 1966, in Effingham, the son of the late Ralph “Pancake” and Lucille (Bricker) Pontious. He graduated from Effingham High School in 1984. Jim was employed with Effingham TA for more than 27 years and from 2005 to 2008, he worked at Dr. Eckstein’s office. He loved to garden, read and watch movies in his spare time. He enjoyed all kinds of music and always had music playing. Jim was a very family oriented person and loved his nieces and nephews as his own and loved to spend time with his siblings. He never quit laughing and having fun. He was a very giving, loving person and enjoyed life to its fullest.Jim is survived by his mother, Lucille of Effingham; brothers, Clarence, Todd (Arlene), Ralph and Raymond Pontious, all of Effingham; sisters, Jo (Gale) Budde and Emma (Rick) Schmidt of Watson; 16 nieces and nephews; and 21 great- nieces and nephews.Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; grandparents, John and Bessie Bricker and Clarence and ReEllen Pontious.... {via edn effingham dailynews} And his favorite uncle & aunt John & Betty Bricker {also preceded him in his} death...
