I remember the first couple of times that I met Mr. Waugh: - he was on the North Carolina Highway Patrol and was directing traffic at a Duke game and another time met Jay and me for a lunch break that lasted all of 5 minutes before he got a call and had to leave. I thought he was the most serious and solemn person I had ever met. The 3rd time I met him he was in street clothes and it was then that I realized he was a huge but impish man with a wicked sense of humor.

This is the man that told me he wasn't an Indian giver when Jay and I got married; if I wanted him so much I could keep him
