The Card Game

April 1, 2013

I remember one time, a couple years ago, James came up for a visit at our house. I was ten years old and we were bored while waiting for my parents to cook dinner. So I nonchalantly bragged to him about what a great card player I was. I should have known he would challenge me on that. I went to go find a deck of cards, and when I came back, he was sitting cross-legged on the carpet of the living room. I sat down across from him and we began playing Crazy 8s. He played it differently than I was used to: whenever he drew a card, he kept going until he got a card he could play. So began the LONGEST GAME OF CRAZY EIGHTS EVER. We re-shuffled the deck countless times and I think the game went an hour or two. I think the game was cut short because dinner was ready, so there was no winnner. To this day, I amazed he sat in that position for that long. God bless him. From that point on, I told my parents he was one of my favorite uncles.

Love, your neice Sarah.
