To Uncle Jay and Aunt Bernie,
Yesterday was Alma Dickinson's birthday and would be 102. Always think of Jay and Bernice, Kathy, Beth, and Judy this time of year. At 66, I'm glad I can still remember the times at our house and yours. Blessings to all.

I think about my Uncle Jay very often with only the fondest of memories. I can even now almost hear his laugh. He was so very special and will always be loved and missed.

Dear Kathy, Beth, Judy, Aunt Bernice, family and friends:

As the eldest nephew of Jay Teachout, I have many fond memories of my uncle Jay. I used to stay over at the home on Hickory in Troy and out at White Lake during summer vacations. Uncle Jay tried to teach me to water ski. They took us to the Drive In Movies, usually scary ones, like The Fly.

Our family, Bernice's brother Lloyd, and my mom, Dorothy, and my siblings, Larry, Chris, and Peggy had many Easter and Thanksgiving Dinners together with Bernice, Jay and their kids.

After Jay retired and they moved to Florida, I would see them every time I'd go to visit my parents in Florida too. My parents were very close to Jay and Bernice. They helped celebrate my parents 25th Wedding Anniversary and of course were part of their wedding party.

I also remember Grandpa and Grandma Teachout, who lived next door on Hickory and had the house on White Lake. Grandma Teachout was very sweet, while Grandpa Teachout was very stern, but had a twinkle in his eye.

Jay was a successful businessman, served America in the US Navy during WWII, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered as a very admirable man with a great sense of humor, always bringing cheer to those around him.

So with those remembrances let's always celebrate the life of Jay Teachout. He lived a full life and was very proud of his family who will carry on his legacy with pride.

We were very blessed to have such a close family. Jay will be missed.

Love,
Dave

Dear Kathy and family, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I know the last several years have been difficult and trying for you and your family. Like the tribute said, I remember your dad's laugh and I can hear it now. It was an infectious laugh and would make anyone laugh! I remember being around your mom more and making french fries in your kitchen after school. I have many fond memories of being at your house on Hickory in Troy...from Brownies to Girl Scouts..to Junior High through High School. So very long ago! But your parents were wonderful people and you have done a wonderful daughter taking great care of them! My heart is heavy for your loss. I know your dad is watching over you and thankful for taking care of your mom and him. Know we are thinking of all of you during this difficult time. Holly and Paul

My second family

January 19, 2014

My memories of Jay and Bernice, Kathy, Beth, Judy and Tim go back to my seventh grade at Baker junior High. It was likely math class where I met Kathy and she invited me to her house for an after school visit. We have remained friends since that time. It is a testimony to the warmth and love the Teachout family have always shared with their friends and family.

As I share in your loss, my heart goes out to Kathy, Beth, and Bernice.
