Fond memories

March 15, 2014
It is the 21st October 1977, the day before my wedding. I am stood on platform 1, of Worcester railway station, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the London train carrying a Mother and her Daughter, nothing unusual you might say. The train pulls in and two people disembark. I run straight towards this couple, embrace the Mother, pick her up and swing her full circle. Who was this person who had this effect on me? Jean of course. Throughout my life I spent no more than 15 days in her company, sadly not enough, 15 years would not have been enough. I first met Jean in 1969, when I visited my American relations, and stayed with the Cuccinello family. I had been warned by her Mother, Auntie Gladys to me, that being with Jean would be many things, but certainly not dull. How right she was. I had the time of my life. No person before or since has had such a lasting effect on me in such a short period of time. For Jean to be at my wedding was the icing on the cake. I will always regret that my wife Anne only spent a very short amount of time with Jean, but we have the wedding photos to always treasure. She will always have a special place in our hearts.
