Her Life
February 18, 2015

Ms. Jeanette Rutledge, born to the late John William Rutledge, Sr. and the late Peggy Ruth Cameron Rutledge, entered upon her earthly home on July 11, 1951. Jeanette answered God's call by touching the lives of her family, friends and many others through love, generosity, and kindness. Jeanette served her purpose well here on earth and graciously took a hold of God's outstretched hand and climbed the Stairway to Heaven on February 12, 2015.

At an early age, Jeanette joined Springfield Baptist Church, Hogansville, Georgia under the leadership of the late Reverend Edward R. Davie. Under the leadership of Bishop Richard B. Lankford, Jeanette was a member of the then newly formed Springfield Baptist Sanctuary Choir, the Food Service Committee utilizing her God-given gift of cooking, and the Pastor's Aide.

Jeanette attended West End High School, Hogansville, Georgia through the eleventh grade, and completed her senior year of high school at Ethel W. Kight High School, LaGrange, Georgia, where she graduated in 1970. Jeanette was a member of the basketball team at both West End High School and Ethel W. Kight High School. Jeanette's dedication to her family is evidenced by the fact that she chose to enter the workforce and help support her family rather than accept a basketball scholarship to attend college in Texas.

After high school, Jeanette became employed with Uniroyal Goodrich, Hogansville, Georgia, where she worked for 25 years. She also worked part-time with the Troup County School System for 5 years. Jeanette later retired from Uniroyal Goodrich when her health began to decline.

Jeanette was not only the "World's Best" mother to her only child, Reggie, she was also a wonderful grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her family unconditionally and always wanted everyone to be happy. Jeanette had a "heart of gold" that was a blessing to family and friends near and far. Jeanette was a fantastic and talented cook and was well-known for her chicken dressing and potato salad, recipes that she perfected over the years. Jeanette loved listening to Gospel music and was the family's prayer warrior

Our dear Jeanette leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Reggie Darnell (Stephanie) Rutledge, Fairburn, GA; one grandson, Khalil Rutledge; two step-granddaughters, Nadea Sheppard and Amaya Tucker; one great granddaughter, Malaysia Dudley; eleven brothers and sisters, Carol Sue (David) Hopson, Atlanta, GA, Katie R.
