Jerry was a kind and generous man who restored the function of countless cars and other things having mechanical difficulties.

As a fervent Christian, he sought to heal any broken situation he came upon and was able to restore.

Individuals too numerous to mention have been made whole again and had their peace of mind and that of their entire family restored when Jerry fixed their cars often times without charging them for the labor.

Today, our cars are like extensions of our own bodies and when they aren't working we are not whole.

In the tradition of Christ, Jerry was indeed a healer.

I remember someone telling me long ago that the world will never know what Jerry Ash has forgotten, let alone what he still remembers of the world of welding and machine work. I don't think I understood it at the time, I was 20, but now it rings more true than ever. He was an amazing human being with a great resource of knowledge and a calm approach to every problem and catastrophe presented to him. He was truly an inspiration to me over the years and when I think of the positive role models in my life, no one compares to Mr. Ash. The words "can't" and "not able to" or "don't" were never in his vernacular and I will always remember what he has taught me over the years. You will truly be missed, and thank you for being apart of my life! God bless!

The world has far too few pragmatic optimists to go around.

Jerry was the most stellar one I was ever blessed to know personally.

Not an idle dreamer or talker was he, but a day by day practical doer of the highest caliber.

He now will share eternal bliss along with all his brethren and sisters who have claimed it through Christ Jesus.

A wondrous welcoming committee was waiting to greet and accept him into Paradise.

Paradise is always requesting more good Marines! Can't ever get enough of them!

God bless you Colleen, Marti, and Randy.

As you grieve and have occasion to weep, be consoled by the realization that all of you shall one day be reunited and never again be separated.

Diplomats of last resort

January 18, 2014

When Jerry's son Randy gave his wonderful sermon at Jerry's memorial service and mentioned the many times Jerry had given him a lecture on tact and diplomacy as part of what we would call a "time out" today, I had to chuckle.

I couldn't think of a more qualified person than a Marine like Jerry to give a lecture on Tact and Diplomacy. After all, aren't Marines diplomats too?

When all other forms of diplomacy fail, the Marines show up on the beach more than willing to represent our national interest and practice their special brand of diplomacy.

Diplomats of last resort, but diplomats nonetheless.

Confidence without swagger is how I'll always remember Jerry.

He was a United States Marine, but he was also a soldier advocate for Christ and humility was an essential requirement for that role

True Christianity was practiced by Jerry daily and I know stories to that effect will be forthcoming.
