His Life

Jestover Jones, Jr. was born in Macon County, AL on May 7, 1947 to the late Jestover Jones Sr. and the late Lillie Jones Bray. With little warning and no time to say goodbye on January 14, 2016, Jestover took his journey home to be with the Lord.

He was a strong believer in God and would always put him first. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age while attending New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Shorter, AL.

After graduating from Deborah Cannon Wolfe High Schoo, Shorter, AL, Jestover moved to New York where he furthered his education and started his career. He retired from the New York City Transit System after over twenty-five years of dedicated service.

Even though he spend his adult life in New York, Alabama was always home and in his heart.

Along with his parents, Jestover was also preceded in death by his youngest brother, Ernest L. Jones.

 His memories will be cherished by: his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Ivory Jones, New York; three sons, Jestover Jones, III, Maryland, Zackary (Shanette) Jones, New York and Arthur (Margaret) Ivory, Jr., Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren, Alexis Ivory, Ariana Ivory, Shydae Davis, Monasia and Aniah; seven sisters, Vido Lightfoot, Queens, NY Carrie (Henry) Callaway, Tuscaloosa, AL, Pinkie Jones, Montgomery, AL, Mable (Theodore) Moone, Jane Ellis and Julie Smith, all of Shorter, AL, Shirley Berry, Baltimore, MD; five brothers, Otis (Susan) Jones, Irvington, NJ, Dennis Jones, Tuskegee, AL, Bud (Ilene) Jones, Montgomery, AL, John (Brenda) Jones, Tuskegee, AL and Jeremy Smith, Tallassee, AL; sisters-in-law, Bernice Jones, Union Springs, AL, Annie (Bennie) Harris, Chicago, IL, Irene (Fred) Robins, Macon, GA, Mary Taylor, North Carolina, Shirley Hunter, New York, Lennett Foster, Birmingham, AL and Cyrlene Foster, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Sharon) Foster, New York; five aunts, Mary (James) Robinson, Montgomery, AL, Betty Walker, Chicago, IL, Pinkie Fielder, Hardaway, AL, Lois (Eggleston) Jeter and Margaret Bell, all of Tuskegee, AL; two uncles, Jackson Jones and Lonnie (Johnnie) Walker, Montgomery, AL; great-aunt, Berlin Henderson, Tuskegee, AL; along with a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He will be missed in the hearts of many.
