His Life

Our son

February 1, 2016

Jhett came into this world a healthy 7 pounds 10 oz and we couldnt take our eyes off him.  He was absolutely perfect and beautiful.  His sisters loved him so much.  The first thing they did every morning was get up and go see him and kiss him.  He was the happiest baby.  He never cried or fused unless he was hungry.  He loved food and was a big boy.  He was very strong and was almost going to start walking.  Jhett went to heaven in a way we never knew could happen.  He shared a bed with his parents as he loved being close to his mommy and she loved it more.  They knew the dangers of co sleeping and didnt have blankets and pillows and were careful not to roll on him, yet thats not how he went to heaven.  Jhett got between the mattress and headboard and slowly ran out of oxygen while sleeping.  This was something his parents never heard of or thought of happening as how could such a big boy fit down there? When we awoke and found him and did cpr and called the ambulance we didnt believe what was going on.  They told us at the hospital he had no vitals and later told us there was nothing more they could do and said they were sorry.  That day will never leave our minds and the images hurt so much.  We dont need lectures or rude comments that he should have been in a crib.  We know all this and felt the he was safe in our bed with us just like his older sisters were also in our bed.  He had a crib.  The crib was beside our bed with a breathable mattress. We tried putting him in the crib but as soon as he would wake up we would move him to our bed where he would always go back to sleep right away as he loved it there also.  If we can do anything to help save another babies life and a another families heartache all we ask if you please dont co sleep unless you know of all the dangers.  We cant go back and fix this and so wish we could but other people can and we pray they do. To lose a child is something you never want to even imagine and if you do take that pain times a million.  Jhett is so missed by his parents, sisters, and friends.  He touched so many lives in only 7 months and we know God is holding him and our little boy Ryker in his arms tightly until we get there someday.  Until than we will mourn forever and miss you more than words can say.  We love you Jhett.
