James Lawrence Norman, age 65, passed away in Denver, Colorado on October 11, 2013.

  Born April 1, 1948 in Johnson County Kentucky, music runs in his family.  His Grandfather Roy was a traveling musician during the Great Depression, and he is a cousin of country music star Loretta Lynn.  His family moved to steel town East Chicago, Indiana when he was four.  Upon graduating East Chicago Washington High School, he attended the University of Viet Nam, U.S. Army Engineering Brigade.

  Jim, also known as Larry or 'Big Jim',  has been a Denver resident for over thirty-five years, working for BP Amoco, and most recently, Oracle Corporation. Jim was an accomplished guitarist, graphic artist, motorcyclist, and was a long time member of the Colorado Blues Society. A music aficionado, he loved all genres of music, but especially enjoyed playing and listening to the Blues. He played the local Blues Jams for a long time and was a huge supporter of live music   Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Bobbi) Norman of Denver; step family Desiree, Wayne and (grandchildren) Logan, Jake, and Avery Lenertz; brothers and their families, Mark Norman and Kevin Norman of Indiana.  Jim  was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nora Norman of Indiana.

  Family and friends celebrated Jim’s life at the Memorial Service held on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Washington Park Chapel, 1001 S. Pearl Street, Denver, Colorado 80209. Food and refreshments followed in the reception room.
