"I'm glad I told you all I meant to while I had the chance, cause every moment I had with you made me who I am." Even though you're gone, I know you're with me. You are my hero, the strongest man I know. You held on for so long, with no complaints. So smart, so caring, you always looked out for me. You were the best grandfather a girl could ask for. I love you Bompa, and I miss you so much, but I know you're happy in heaven

Campground

Some of Jim's happiest times were spent when we were assistant managers at "Treetops Campground" in Kent CT.  He loved driving the vehicles, drove the tractor, garbage truck, dump trucks etc.  the best times for him were the winters, when we had the whole place to ourselves!  What a great time he had, he used to plow off the lake and make a huge skating rink, build a fire down there and the kids would skate to their hearts content.  He also used the tractor to pile snow as high as he could and make a huge sledding hill for the kids.... great times for all of us.  He loved the peace and quiet, it was like living in another world, on top of a mountain with no one around!

Jim and his Alaska Trip

November 30, 2012
1982-83. Jim always dreamed of going to Alaska. Well that dream became a reality whenhe decided to take a break from computers and drive an 18 wheeler! One of his loads started in MA and ended up in Alaska... What a great time he had. He was still talking about it shortly before he died. He made his way up the Alaskan highway into Anchorage, at least a small village near there, if I am remembering right. He was carrying pontoons for airplanes...delivered them....couldn't get a return load, so he decided he really liked it there and would spend a week or so exploring.... The people were all so very nice and welcomed him into their home. They took him up in a small plane and he marveled at all the wonders he saw. Well..... His week or two there turned into 3 months...he just could not find a return load...also ran into some weather problems...at least that was a good explanation that allowed him to stay there for an extended visit. When he did finally make it back home he was so excited about all he had seen he wanted to move us to Alaska! Wait a minute, I didn't want to move there.....the kids didn't want to leave their friends.... Well we did not make the move, he decided it really would have been too drastic a change! ... But did plan on going back someday. Shortly after his return we sold the "Blue Goose" (the truck) and he went to work for Kent School. We never did make it to Alaska but really enjoyed all his stories about his adventures in the wilderness. Happy traveling Jim!
