The purpose of this site is to remember my father, Derwin James "Jim" Walker Jr. While none of us were prepared to say goodbye, I take comfort in knowing the fullness of my father's life, the number of people he has touched, and the beautiful memories we have that can never be taken away.

While the tears on our faces are not yet dry, we must remember all of the best times we shared with him. I invite everyone to share their thoughts, stories, and anecdotes. Jim's wit, hospitiality and compassion for others knew no limits. Help me to honor him the best ways we know how. Together we can create a living document, a testement to his impact on our lives.

Alex, i only know your father from the stories you and Jordan have told me. What I can say is he created a wonderful caring funny son. My heart goes out to you and your mom.

As a little kid, I always thought "Mr. Walker" (as I knew him then) was Santa Claus. He was unfailingly kind, gracious, and fun, just like his wife and son. I know you and your mom will face the upcoming days with that same grace. Please use all of us who love you for support.
Love, Katie

Dad Jokes

December 8, 2012

My Dad was a true master of what I like to refer to as "Dad Jokes": classic one liners appreciated by fathers everywhere. A couple of my favorite ones poked fun at the way i chose to express my self by wearing really tight, low rise jeans.

"Hey Alex, just say no to [butt] crack."

"Those pants seem like a cheap hotel: no ballroom."
