靖衍虽然离世,但因著主耶稣的应许,“复活在我,生命也在我,信我的人,虽然死了,也必复活”(约十一 : 25)。我们期待,也相信将来在神的国度,我们会彼此再见面,直到永远。

Obituary

Jingyan Zhou, the only child of Mr. Ronglin Zhou and Mrs. Xingzhi Chen, was born on July 28, 1969 in WuXi, China. With a calming demeanor, a loving heart, and an open-minded attitude towards the world, Jingyan was a delight for her doting parents, a devoted wife to her husband, a loving mother to her daughter, and a compassionate friend to many people who have been fortunate enough to know her. A conscientious student with an inquisitive mind, Jingyan always distinguished herself as a top student in her class. She graduated from Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics University) in 1991.

With the seeds of love planted in their hearts in high school, Jingyan and Guodong were married on June 28, 1994 after seven years of courtship. Then they traversed three continents—Europe, Asia, and America—to study and work until finally settling down in Chicago in 2000. Guodong and Jingyan, well known for their unwavering dedication to each other, welcomed the joy of their life—their beloved daughter Helena in the same year. Since then Jingyan dedicated herself to taking care of her family and parents. Helena is now a high school freshman. Jingyan will be dearly missed by her parents, husband, and daughter.

Jingyan was also known among friends for her innate sense of elegance, passionate love for nature and art, impressive talents for cooking, and selfless support of those in need. Jingyan will be missed dearly by her friends—along with her charming smiles, kind words, and wonderful food created with her graceful fingers and uncompromising love. After many years of participating in Bible studies, Jingyan was baptized in March 2016.

Since her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2001, Jingyan embarked on a heroic journey to fight the disease with an indomitable spirit, unfailing love for her family, and an optimistic attitude toward a future of possibilities. Regardless of the excruciating pain she had to endure on a daily basis, Jingyan always presented the most uplifting side of her to her loved ones—her family and friends. Jingyan’s courageous battle against breast cancer came to an end on March 21, 2016, when she returned to the loving arms of Jesus Christ in heaven.

A beloved daughter, wife, mother, and friend, Jingyan will always live in our hearts. The fond memories we have been fortunate to create with her will forever be cherished. Through Jesus’ promise "I am the resurrection and the life.  Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying" (John 11:25), we hope and firmly believe that we will see each other again in God’s kingdom.
