|The memory of Jitka will be with us forever|
Jitka Mucha, our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, lost her courageous battle with cancer on the afternoon of 3 January 2011. We will never forget her beautiful smile and cheerful laughter, her passion for life, and her love for the outdoors, music and family - especially her granddaughters.
We are all so fortunate to have been part of her life. She will remain forever in our hearts.
Sister Eva and her husband Jirka
Son Tom and his wife Laura
Son Dan and his wife Laurie
Granddaughters Sophia and Sasha

"Jitko zase jsou dalsi Tvoje narozeniny (kulate) bez Tebe.
Moje take kulate budou pristi mesic.
Vzpominame mnohem casteji nez pisu a to se nemeni.
Maria a Olda"
"Happy birthday, grandma I wish I could tell you in person. I wish you could come see me in London. I miss you so much and my heart hurts thinking of you, yet I do it all the time. You are much missed, love Sasha"
"Happy birthday Grandma Jitka! We are all sending you our best wishes! London is prettier than ever. The trees are blossoming and the birds are chirping. I cant help but think of you all the time. My heart aches not being able to tell about all my experiences in London. You are truly missed!
Happy birthday again, your granddaughter Sophia"
"Vsechno nejlepsi k letosnim narozeninam Eva"
"Happy birthday, my love. The seven snuck in and we almost did not notice. Missing you as ever and need you bad (as Danny used to say). With all my love have a happy seventy."
"This is from Sophia:
This year was one of the most exciting and craziest years of my life! We went through so much, moving to London, settling in and auditioning and getting into Arts schools! We think that you would absolutely love London. It has huge parks, gorgeous sights and lots of fun things to do. I think I am like you in that I love animals and I want to protect them. For example: this year, grandpa gave me some christmas money to spend on whatever I want. And I've decided to give most of my money to some type of animal charity. Also, this year my sister and I got bunnies! My bunny's name is Sherlock. (because he likes to investigate and explore) And Sasha's bunny's name is Alex. (as in Alex Morgan the american soccer player) I am thinking of you all the time when I have a tough day, or when I see or hear a bird.
Lots and lots of love from Sophia"
"Stale na tebe myslim Eva"
"Leta na pribyvaji, pratele ubyvaji jen vzpominky nam zustavaji.
Vzpominame na Tebe mnohem casteji nez piseme.
Maria a Olda"
Cas utika kamaradko a stale jses a budes v nasich vzpominkach.
"Vzpomínám na Valentínské, lásko má, jsi tu všude okolo mne."
"Pět let mi chybíš, pět let na Tebe myslím. Odpočívej v míru, budeš se mnou navždy."
You didn't leave a memoir but those who loved you are creating one to honor you. It is a privilege to know you better through their tributes. You were a great wife, mother, friend, grandmother but also a creative, remarkable person who will always be missed."
"Today we celebrate all the fun times we had with you! All the trips, all the walks, all the meals we enjoyed. And if you were still with us, you would definitely be helping us out with our move to London."
"Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon
Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood
The shouts of joy skiing fast through the woods
I hear the echoes
I learned your love for life,
I feel the way that you would
I feel your presence
I feel the way you would
This just can't be understood..."
"Happy Birthday Jitko!
Thinking about you, especially today on your birthday.
Maria and Oli"

You were wise enough to know that three years or ten years or any number of years cannot ease the loss of those closest to you. It is strange that memories comfort and also bring pain. Your love for all your family and friends should give each courage even as they confront another year without your presence. Peace to all."

We wish you were here with us in Indiana this week. We would take a walk in the woods and examine nature and birds. You would like that. I wish you were still alive with us. I wish I could see your big smile right now. We love you so so much. We will never forget you."
"Laura and I think of you when we see interesting birds. Now that spring has (finally) come, we're seeing lots of them: Oyster catchers from the train to work; green woodpeckers that seem to peck grass more than wood; many skylarks and even a lapwing(!) on our walks through the Essex fields. And although we never see them, we often have owls serenading us to sleep! Happy birthday!"
"Happy birthday, dear colleague, friend, and neighbor. We in New York who worked with you at Columbia Grammar and Prep School still remember you with great respect and love. We miss your beautiful, smiling face in the faculty lounge. Marvin and Karen"

"jitka, On your birthday, spring has finally arrived in Praha. You also celebrate Frank's seeking not only to cherish memories but to leading an active life, welcoming your granddaughters to your beloved city this summer, always remembering you as do all your family members and your friends. This morning I was stretching and enjoying your marvelous home with the Japanese decor and you."
"A:though the privilege of knowing you was not many years, the opportunity was truly meaningful as is true for your many friends and family. Renting your home, caring for your treasures, reading your books, listening to your music,. grieving for your untimely illness and death all make you a friend to be remembered and regretted. I wish we had had more shared dinners and conversations.

"Jitka, there is a blend of joy and pain on your birthday. You should be with us to celebrate; you give so much to everyone. Memories are dear but losing you leaves friends and family impoverished in many ways.
Love, Norma J. Hervey, Ph.D."
"How vividly we recall at a cafe in Kauai the lovely surprise sounds of Jitka & Frank conversing in Czech at a table near us. Our swiftly developed friendship led to our glorious walks with Jitka & Frank in Prague. We celebrate Jitka's warmth & cheer, her lively intelligence & depth of heart, and the closeness and love she shared with Frank. We are blessed to have known her, Joyce & Len Berkman"
"I miss Jitka's great mood, her laughter and her warmth. We went to school together, we graduated the same year, we didn't see each other for thirty years. But whenever we got together it was like we never spent a day apart. The time I spent with Jitka was immaculate.
"I work at Columbia Prep and had the pleasure of knowing Jitka during her last years there before retirement. What a warm person she was! I remember having some great conversations with her about science and teaching. She had the ability to draw people out and make them feel comfortable -- her students included! I'm so sorry she is gone!"
"I had the honor of working with Jitka at Columbia Prep. As a new teacher to the school, Jitka welcomed me and made me feel a part of the community. We often had lunch together and discussed literature and forensics. She taught me about life in Czechoslovakia, and helped me understand the context of one of my favorite novels. I hold such fond memories of her. I am so very sorry for your loss."
"I was a colleague of Jitka's. Since she and I were in different departments, my contact with her was limited. Whenever I would speak to her, however, her kind spirit and gentle sense of humor shone through. As a teacher, Jitka could not possibly have had any idea of the number of students and colleagues she impacted in a positive way. May her kindnesses be rewarded a hundredfold."
"Jitka was one of the most beautiful women we have ever known, inside and out. It was always a pleasure to enjoy her intelligent, gentle, sweet demeanor. The image of her lovely smiling face remains indelible. As a superb teacher, she was loved by her students and fellow teachers. She was a very, very special woman. We send deepest condolences to our friend Frank and Jitka’s family."
"Jitka was my colleague, and a beloved friend to both my wife and myself. She was bright, warm and gracious to us when we visited Prague. We will miss her.
Our condolences to frank and the rest of the family.
Arlene and Arnold Feinblatt"
"To Frank and family: my husband and I share in your pain and remember Jitka fondly as a vivacious, smart and beautiful lady! Even though we've seen each other just about once a year - either in our Manhattan apartment on your way westward or during our yearly visits to Prague, we have always enjoyed being together with both of you! With love and compassion,
Anna and Paul Balev"
"This is the second leavetaking -- once when Frank and Jitka left New York. But this one is heartbreaking. The first always offered the promise of years of friendship, slowly growing over time. Jitka was a beautiful person and I cared for her deeply. I looked forward always to sharing her passions. She was a marvelous woman. We will miss her."
"Somehow we all moved on and lost track of each other, but we were continuously trying to find you. We never thought it would be this way. We remember the good times in New York, the parties and dinners we enjoyed, and especially what a beautiful and caring bridesmaid Jitka was at our wedding. Our wedding pictures are in Pittsburgh-we will share them with you in May. Our deepest sympathies to all."
"Jitka byla uzasna pritelkyne, kamaradka, krasne se s ni cestovalo, varilo, zahradnicilo.....we will miss you very much. Jitka was like a sunshine, always sending warm rays to everyone around her, leaving us all warm and happy and we will feel her with us forever.
"Very sad indeed. I will never forget how kind, warm, and welcoming Jitka and the entire Mucha family were when I arrived in Tenafly. Tom and I became fast friends and the Muchas, my second family. Thank you."
"Jitka was a lovely person and I have so many memories of her, as does the rest of the family, Joshua and Charlotte, Clem and Eva, Tom and Krissy. We shared so many good times together in the US and Prague. Jitka will be very missed, she was a wonderful, amazing, kind, caring person who loved life and her family. We will keep in our hearts and memories forever. Lots of love to you!"
"Jitka has been an important part of the family all my life. She always took interest in the people she loved and shared her insights and wisdom with me while I was growing up. She was inspiringly passionate about the people and issues close to her heart. Jitka will always be missed and remembered with great fondness. All my love and heartfelt condolences to all the Muchas.
"I knew Jitka from 1970. Jitka was a big part of my and my daughter's life. She was a very good person and special friend. I have wonderful memories of her and I am very grateful for that. I will never forget her. She will be missed by everyone.
In my heart forever. Love Eva""
"Jitka will be missed dearly. I admired her on many levels and she was a very caring and smart person who had a way of making others feel comfortable. Jitka had many wonderful traits I know her loss is hard for all who knew her.
My heartfelt wishes for her family.
"Deeply saddened here. Jitka remains a positive influence from my formative years in Tenafly. One very cool and laid-back mom. Her impact on my life is inestimable. After all, it was Jitka and Frank that gave us Tom and Dan; and it was Tom and Dan that got me to Prague where I would spend nine indelible years. I'm so grateful to know all of you. What a lovely family! Fondly remembering, Jim"
"Olda a Maria-still in denying stage - January 12,2011
It is so hard to write about Jitka in past time.
