Ms. Joan Marie Pingel, also known as Joanie, 72, of Webster City, IA passed away on February 3, 2017, at Southfield Wellness Community.

Joan was born to the late Merton Le Roy and Naomi Gunderson on November 1, 1944, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was the middle child of three. Preceded in death by her youngest brother Raymond Gunderson.

Joan is survived by her daughter Melanie (Sergio) Ordonez; her sons Jeffrey and Timothy Pingel; grandson Payne Pingel; granddaughters Candice Hoft, Brooke Hoft, and Madison Pingel; her great-granddaughters Alyena Blankley and Hannah Rosen; her brother Nathen (Darlene) Gunderson; and her aunt Sybil Bockert.

Joan called Southfield Wellness Community (Webster City, IA) home for the last seven and a half years. Southfield staff gave her the best of care and became Joanie’s adopted family, for which her biological family will be forever grateful. Many, many thanks to them. Also, thank you to Kindred Hospice for making Joan’s last days as comfortable as possible.

Joan’s children and grandchildren had a small, private celebration of life gathering, and the cremation will take place shortly. Timothy Pingel will receive and care for his mother’s ashes. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions are made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (http://support.pdf.org/) or the Epilepsy Foundation (www.epilepsy.org).

So thankful to my mother for teaching me empathy, humility, and appreciation. She suffered long enough in her earthly body, and now she can be free to run. We will be together again one day.
Luke 23:43, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise”
Revelation 21:4, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
