Mom

January 22, 2014
The story of mom is really hard to find a beginning. I have memories of her from even before I was born. She was able to finish High School, before she entered her new life as a wife. Soon there was a boy born that she adored (Ernest). Then five years later I (Debby) was born. Seven years later came Melodye. We had moved to Texas by then, by train. She had worked most of her life helping support the family. We would travel to Kentucky to see Memame ( her mom). We all loved to go on those road trips together. We would go fishing with her brother Riley, eat my grandmothers wonderful cooking, and go to church. Then most of the time we would go to Mississippi to visit more relatives. There was more fishing, good country cooking, and just fun sitting on the porch with stories and laughter. Then skipping forwards, mom started getting out of breath and tired. So we made an appointment to see the doctor. We found out that she had C.O.P.D. We knew then her life with us was ticking away. There were many trips to the doctor then, finding ways to keep her with us as long as we could. Then it was time to lay her husband to rest ( Don). She lived alone for several years. We had to get her to stop driving, and that was very hard for us all. Thank God for her good friends that helped with her errands. The time came she needed to move in with Debby and Nick. She lived there for a few years, and her health was failing enough that she needed more care. She moved in an assisted living home for some time. Then moved to this wonderful assisted living that was her final home. There she was so happy there. She made friends wherever she was. On the day of January 15 she passed away and went to her now and forever home. We all know she is in heaven now, smiling on us saying " it's wonderful here and I will see you agin some day ".
