His Life
May 10, 2014

Joey was born in Vail Colorado on 10/03/1986. He only lived in Breckenridge Colorado for a couple months before moving to Calexico/El Centro California. He lived with his mom and grandfather till he moved to San Diego with his mom when he was 6 years old. They moved around San Diego county for a few years before settling in Solana Beach where he pretty much lived for the rest of his life. He did move around a little but mainly based there.
Before moving to San Diego his mom had a baby girl so Joey had a sister named Jenny. Joey loved his sister very much.
While growing up in Solana Beach Joey went to Skyline Elementary then went to Earl Warren Middle School and then to Torrey Pines High School in Carmel Valley.
Joey loved sports but his main love was skateboarding. The first time he got on a skateboard he was 4 years old. It was his Uncle Tonys board and he scooted around on it sitting on his butt and pushing with his feet. He skated off and on but really got serious about his skateboarding when we moved to Solana Beach. He and his buddies were always out constantly trying new tricks and filming. He really wanted to be a great skateboarder and he achieved that. When he was 14 years old Birdhouse Skateboards signed him on as an amateur on their team. He got photos in magazines and was in videos. Then Volcom added him as well. He got to travel all over the country and parts of the world touring when he was just a teenager.
Joeys career only lasted a few years till he tore his ACL and broke a couple other bones. He never stopped skating though. It was something he always wanted to be doing and never gave up on it.
To be continued.....
