Grandma LeMaster's Description of Dad

June 20, 2013

My Grandma LeMaster (Dad's Mother) used to love to tell stories about my (his daughter) Dad's childhood and even into his teen years. She always said that Dad was a very playful and "rambunctious" child when he was growing up...maybe even a little mischievous. Apparently, he didn't take parental guidance very well either. Heresay was that if my Grandma took Dad anywhere when he was little, she would have to put a child leash on him to keep him from running away. We always joked with her about him being such a poor, abused little boy. Ha!! That's until some of us started to have children of our own and our family grew. I was one of the first to figure out that I too could have used one of those leashes.

It never surprised me that Dad had a little wild streak, although the stories did amuse me. He was a one of a kind person and apparently he continued on that way throughout his life. He loved to wear the most fashionable and up and coming style of clothes and shoes. Of course Granddaddy LeMaster couldn't resist giving him a hard time about his "fancy wing-tipped" Italian made shoes. That is what made Dad who he was though. He was original and had a mind of his own. I am proud to say that I have many of his attributes.
