The Philanthropist
John was a philanthropist and supported many great, forward- thinking projects and causes. We will never know how much John did for communities locally or abroad as his contribution of time, talent and money were often given anonomously -- however here are some of the contributions recognised publically:

John earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from San Jose State University and his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Utah.

Career
During his 40-year career, John developed a deep understanding of the health care business and was highly sought out for his expertise. He was Managing Partner at Short Consulting LLC, and served on the Boards for Millennium Health, WellPoint, Inc., Kindred Healthcare, Anthem, Inc., University of Maryville, University of Missouri, US Physiatry, Seton Healthcare Family and VeriCare Management, Inc. He previously held teaching positions in the field of economics at the University of Utah and at Weber State College in Ogden, Utah. Earlier in his career, he had served as Executive Chairman to VeriCare Management, Inc.; President and Chief Executive Officer of RehabCare Group, Inc.; and Managing Partner of Phase 2 Consulting, Inc.
