Jonathan's Obit

 A memorial service for Jonathan Christopher “Red” Coleman was held at 3p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wendell Estep and Tripp Atkinson officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 8p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.


Jonathan died on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the age of 19. He was born on August 20, 1990. He attended and graduated from Blythewood High School, Class of 2008. During his high school years he was involved with the Engineering program and the Blythewood Robotics Team, being Co-Captain his junior year and Captain his senior year. Jonathan was a cable installer for Time Warner Cable Company through Tech One.

Jonathan had many interests and hobbies including working on computers and his car. He enjoyed hockey, pulling for the Pittsburg Penguins and the Columbia Inferno. NASCAR racing was another interest he liked and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. His blood runneth Garnet as he also supported the Carolina Gamecocks. Jonathan was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Coleman Hetzel; his sister Heather Leigh Hetzel; his step-father, Tim Hetzel and his wife Julie; his godmother, Gina George Brayman; his biological father, Robert Joseph Levesque; his grandparents, Patricia F. Coleman, Ruth W. Hetzel, Robert L. & Marilyn Hetzel; aunts and uncles, Wendy C. & Michael Burns, John Robert Coleman, Jr., Sandy & Bill Johnson, Chuck & Kathy Hetzel, Bob & Kathy Hetzel, Carol Nesmith and Ray Hetzel; 21 cousins.

Jonathan was a caring, compassionate young man who was called to heaven to join his grandfather, John R. Coleman, Sr., and great-grandparents, J.C. & Naomi Faile. He is truly loved by his family & his many, many friends and he will be forever missed.

Memorials in Jonathan’s honor can be made to the Blythewood High School Robotics Team, 10901 Wilson Road, Blythewood, SC 29016 and/or the Amercian Red Cross.
