Dad served in the U.S. naval forces on the U.S.S San Juan from 1943-1945 He was a bugle boy and the a gun loader. He told us many stories and the one about him bailing ship when it got hit was the scariest. Everything ended up rescued in the end. He had a tatoo of a palm tree that said Honolulu and and small anchor. He brought many gifts home like pillows and bracelets. He was proud he had served his country.
