Thinking of you Uncle Joe on this being the day you went to Heaven. You were the best and my favorite Uncle on Dad’s side. I always loved going to your house and once older had great conversations and coffee. Give my love to all our family members in Heaven. Love you Uncle Joe and will forever miss you! ❤️❤️

In memory of your 101st birthday I'm adding the poem you wrote on your first watch during World War II entitled:

The Battle of the Bulge.

Our thoughts are many,
our hopes are too,
As we struggle and toil,
for our country and you.
We hope that someday,
there will be a great rest,
in a land gay and happy,
and by far the best.
We think of you there,
in a land fair and bright,
and we turn once again,
to battle and fight.
And we pray that we will be,
with you once more,
at the end of this bloodshed,
at the end of the war.

Years ago it was written...but its meaning is just as strong now as it was then.
Miss and love Uncle Joe.
Your Nephew,
Donald (as you called me)

Uncle Joe was a kind hearted spirit! He loved God, his family and gatherings around the kitchen table. He never turned anyone way. He loved to play his guitar and sing and we, his children, nieces and nephews and grandchildren would sing along with him. His loving wife Ann was his soulmate! He was the father of 5 and grandfather of many! He had many nieces and nephews has well. He had many interests including gardening (delicious tomatoes were my favorite), hunting, fishing and guitar playing. Uncle Joe was my favorite Uncle on my dad's side of the family. He just was the type of person once you met him you had a friend for life. I truly will miss Uncle Joe. Now he is reunited with his wife, brothers, sisters, daughter in law, sister in laws and brother in laws as well has his parents and a wonderfully lady, his mother in law and my grandmother! Uncle Joe this is not goodbye. Rather it is just a step in life we all will take one day! We will see each other again. Until that time, say hello to my family members in God's Kingdom. Uncle Joe you were awesome! Thank you and God Bless You for being in my life! When I reach Heaven's Gates play me a song on your guitar! Will always love you, miss you and smile when I think of you!!!!

What is an Uncle

August 13, 2014

An Uncle is a father, grandfather and friend to many. My Uncle Joe was special! He was so much fun to be around! Has a uncle, Uncle Joe was a favorite to me his niece! Has an uncle, Uncle Joe loved to garden. He always would share what came out of his garden. I used to think only "jersey tomatoes" were the best but Uncle Joe's tomatoes were awesome in their own right. Has an uncle, Uncle Joe was a Veteran. He survived the D Day Invasion! He was proud of his Country, the land of the free and the home of the brave! Has an uncle, Uncle Joe a down to earth man. His love of his family was unmeasurable. Has an uncle, Uncle Joe loved to sing! He could belt out the tunes on his guitar and whoever was there would sing along with him! Has an uncle, you came to Uncle Joe's house and entered through the kitchen. That was the place of great conversation, a good cup of coffee and fun just being in his prescence!

So what is an UNCLE you may ask, he's everything and then some! An uncle who just loves one like crazy , a storyteller, a musician, a farmer, a friend, a father, a grandfather, a son, brother, brother in law, father in law, great grandfather all rolled up into one!

You see, it takes a lot to describe an Uncle! Not enough adjectives I sometimes find. But one thing I found, I will forever miss him. He will hold a very special place in my heart. A man like Uncle Joe can't be replaced nor would I want him to be. But one thing for sure they'll never be another man like him!
