This memorial website was created as a celebration of Big Joe's life.  A mountain of a man, Big Joe was part of the founding team of the first full time rescue shop in Ventura County.  He was surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his passing, and through his love and devotion to one and all he cared about, Big Joe 'lives' in all of our hearts and memories.

Big Joe - You were the glue that held the shop together. No matter the task, you approached everything with laughter and a smile. Your gentleness turned even the most fearful dog into a kissy-faced rehab. I'll always cherish our time together and the many pranks we played on each other. I'll miss my friend, but I'm a better man for having known you!

Joe you will be forever missed by the customers who visited TLC. We, my husband Leroy and I, enjoyed your kindness and help when we adopted Vento/Sparky from you. We always looked forward to chatting with you when we visited the TLC shop. You are going to be missed by every life that you touched, be it four legged or two, we all loved your spirt!

Big Joe, no matter where you are, no matter what we are doing, you will never be forgotten. We will not be sad. We will stay strong and live. You will be in our hearts and will be a part of all of us. We won't remember how it ended, but only remember how it began and celebrate your memory. Never forget we love you, Boss!

Joe, I enjoyed the humor you brought to our shop and was awed by your incredible gift of working with, and saving the lives of, our pups. It was an honor to have known you if only for a short time. The Lord needed another angel in heaven - and in you he got the best.

You always made me laugh and I always looked forward to seeing you when I went into the shop. Conversations were easy going and you were always joking around and making me laugh. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace knowing you raised wonderful caring children and gave many people a strong role model to look up to.

Joe I had the pleasure of working with all three of your children. We spent a lot of time together trying to get them through high school. I truly appreciated your dedication to them, and through it all you never quit on them. I am saddened by your passing.

I did not know Joe personally, I only met him a couple times when I came into the shop. What a terrible loss. All I can say is the pups in heaven needed someone to look after them and Joe was the man to do the job! I extend my sincerest sympathy to his family and friends.

I loved your sense of humor and admired the man you were - your legacy will live thru your kids and thru the many pups you helped save. Thank you Joe for believing in me - the world lost a magnificent man but Heavan sure got lucky. Hug Shadow for me.
