Please see the video in the gallery, especially if you we not able to make it to the Celebration Tea.
It is of Mom and so many of the lives she touched - done to her favourite songs.

Eulogy

November 10, 2013

Everyone here has been blessed, for having Mom in your life in some way and we thank you for coming here today to honour her.

I'd like to give a special thank you to my sister, Candus, for leaving her family and coming here to help Mom and Dad in Mom's final months.

We are all here to celebrate Mom and her fun-loving ways, her fiestyness and her "tell it like it is" attitude.

However you knew her as - Joy, Mom, Nana, Grandma, Gamma or Peaches, Mom was a person everybody could talk to and hear the truth from.  Back when Mom was bartending, and then hairdressing, she was a confidante, a therapist, a teacher, a friend and a shoulder.

Mom will be greatly missed by us all - especially her grandchildren.

Mom was really strong, brave and positive during her short battle with Cancer.  But the times I saw her breakdown was when she spoke about missing the important moments of her grandchildren's lives - graduation, adventures, getting married, and having babies of their own.

I was thinking back to my earliest memory of Mom and it is of her laying us down at bedtime and singing us softly to sleep.  I've carried that tradition on to my own daughter.

But Mom taught Candus and I a lot that we've passed along to our kids - love, respect, self confidence, family values, how to organize and stubborness :-)  And a few other things (see "My Mother Taught Me" poem in Stories)

Throughout Mom's life she was surrounded by family, friends, friends that became family, lots of love and an abundance of laughter and joy.

Our family would like you to take some time to enjoy some favorite images of Mom's - from past and present.  Afterwards, if you'd like to share a memory or funny story, please feel free.

Thank you.
